First Lady Liza Marcos says government efforts to support OFWs will continue

First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening support for overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and their families, emphasizing that they remain a top priority of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s administration.

Over the weekend, Araneta-Marcos shared on social media that she recently sat down with Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) officials to explore more ways to serve OFWs through new initiatives and digitalized services. Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Secretary Jay Ruiz also joined the meeting.

Among the plans discussed were the upcoming “Bagong Bayani ng Mundo OFW Serbisyo Caravan” and efforts to make government services more accessible online for Filipinos abroad. While full details of the initiatives have yet to be revealed, Araneta-Marcos highlighted the importance of continuous action.

“Whenever I meet with the Department of Migrant Workers, I’m reminded of the love and sacrifices that our overseas Filipino workers give every day,” she said.

“The best way to thank them is to make life a little easier for them. To the OFWs, you are not alone,” she added.

President Marcos has frequently praised the dedication and talent of Filipino workers during both local and international engagements, calling them among the best in the world.

In December, the Palace welcomed OFWs and their families for a special gathering recognizing their vital role in national development. Earlier, the President also led the groundbreaking ceremony of the OFW Hospital-Bagong Pilipinas Cancer Care Center in San Fernando, Pampanga, aimed at delivering specialized healthcare for OFWs and their loved ones.
