The UAE has welcomed the first plane under an initiative to host 1,000 Palestinian children for medical treatment. Directed by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE President, this initiative aims to offer comprehensive healthcare services to children from the Gaza Strip.
The first group of beneficiaries, including children in urgent need of medical attention and their families, arrived today from El Arish International Airport in Egypt to Abu Dhabi International Airport. This group consists of children suffering from severe injuries, burns, and cancer, who require extensive medical treatment.
Maha Barakat, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Health, assured that the UAE’s medical facilities and staff are fully prepared to provide specialized care in line with international standards. The goal is to ensure complete recovery of these children before their safe return.
Emphasizing the UAE’s prompt response to the crisis in Gaza, Barakat recounted the UAE’s previous efforts, including the provision of USD 20 million in humanitarian aid and the establishment of a field hospital in Gaza as part of the “Gallant Knight 3” operation. She also noted the dispatch of 51 planes carrying 1,400 tonnes of various supplies to the region.
