The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) announced on Friday, September 6, that companies in the UAE can now apply for exemptions from administrative fines. This is part of a two-month grace period that allows establishments to avoid penalties for failing to submit employment contracts or renew work permits on time.
According to a Khaleej Times report, this initiative is one of four services launched by MoHRE aimed at helping firms rectify their status and avoid fines. The services include issuing, renewing, and canceling work permits, as well as addressing work abandonment complaints.
Both individuals with expired work or residency permits and those facing work abandonment complaints are eligible to settle their status during this period. Violating workers and employers are encouraged to take advantage of the amnesty to avoid legal consequences and financial penalties.
Running from September 1 to October 31, the program is in collaboration with the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security (ICP) under the slogan “Towards a Safer Society.” Applications can be submitted through MoHRE’s website, mobile app, or service centers.
