A fire broke out at Yas Waterworld Abu Dhabi on Friday afternoon, sending thick plumes of black smoke over the nearby areas of Ferrari World and Yas Marina Circuit.
According to a The National report, the blaze, which started around 2pm, was reportedly located in a section of the park currently under construction. Emergency services rushed to the scene, while Abu Dhabi Police temporarily closed roads around the area to allow firefighters easy access.
Authorities have yet to confirm the cause of the fire, but officials said no injuries have been reported. In December, the park’s developer, Miral, announced a major 16,900-square-metre expansion to the attraction, which originally opened in 2013. The upgrade includes 18 new rides, 3.3 kilometers of slides, and what is set to be the UAE’s tallest waterslide.
Police urged the public to rely only on official sources for updates as investigations continue.
