FiND Network teams up with Sigma to give Filipino nurses free global training access

The Filipino Nursing Diaspora (FiND) Network has taken a transformative step in expanding global nursing education through a landmark partnership with Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, widely known as Sigma. Together, they are bringing forward the Nurse Learning Exchange, a rapidly growing collection of high-quality, free Nursing Continuing Professional Development (NCPD) courses designed to support nurses and nursing students at every stage of their careers.

This collaboration marks a major milestone for Filipino nurses around the world—one that elevates access, equity, and excellence in lifelong learning.

Founded in 1922 by six visionary nurses at the Indiana University Training School for Nurses, Sigma has grown into one of the most respected nursing organizations globally. Today, it boasts over 100,000 active members across more than 100 countries, with nearly 600 chapters at over 700 academic institutions across continents—from Africa to Asia, Europe to Oceania, the Middle East to the Americas. Its deep global footprint uniquely positions it as an engine of professional development, interprofessional learning, and evidence-based advancement.

Against this backdrop, the Nurse Learning Exchange emerges as a powerful platform: a freely accessible library of NCPD courses curated and shared by Sigma chapters and selected nursing organizations worldwide. These courses cover a broad range of competencies—clinical care, leadership, research, informatics, ethics, quality improvement, aged care, global health, and more. For nurses seeking career growth, skill enhancement, board certification preparation, or leadership development, the platform provides a timely, credible, and zero-cost solution.

For the FiND Network, the partnership represents an extraordinary opportunity. As the world’s largest community of Filipino nurses outside the Philippines, FiND Network has long been committed to elevating education, global leadership, and workforce empowerment across the diaspora. Through this collaboration, its reach expands even further, enabling members worldwide to access structured, internationally accredited, and learner-friendly courses without financial barriers.

According to the FiND Network Executive Director, Dr. Jerome Babate “this partnership allows the FiND Network to enhance visibility and amplify its educational offerings on a global platform. Moreover, it positions FiND Network as a leader in professional development and collaboration. .”

This alignment with Sigma and the Nurse Learning Exchange underscores the FiND Network’s belief that democratized access to education is essential in strengthening the Filipino nursing workforce—not only in the diaspora but everywhere Filipino nurses serve.

The significance of this initiative cannot be overstated. Filipino nurses—working in over 20 countries across critical sectors such as acute care, long-term care, community health, academia, and health leadership—are among the most globally mobile and in-demand professionals. However, access to structured, accredited continuing professional development often depends on geographic location, cost, and institutional affiliation. By eliminating these barriers, the Nurse Learning Exchange provides a level playing field and ensures that Filipino nurses remain globally competitive.

The partnership also creates fertile ground for cross-cultural and interprofessional collaboration. Through shared courses, study groups, leadership modules, and reflective practice sessions, Filipino nurses can learn alongside peers from Ghana, Ireland, Lebanon, Brazil, Australia, Jordan, Taiwan, and many other countries—mirroring the truly global nature of nursing practice.

This collaboration also strengthens FiND’s long-standing commitment to uplifting the next generation of Filipino nursing leaders. Students and early-career nurses can access foundational modules, while seasoned clinicians and educators can dive into advanced and specialized content. The ripple effect is immense: safer care, stronger leadership, more engaged educators, and globally empowered professionals.

As FiND continues to expand its presence, this partnership with Sigma becomes a cornerstone in its vision of shaping a globally connected Filipino nursing community—one that thrives on learning, service, and shared excellence. By joining forces, Sigma and FiND affirm a shared belief: that world-class education should be accessible, inclusive, and rooted in the values of compassion, excellence, and global citizenship.

What begins as a digital learning exchange today will shape the competencies, careers, and leadership trajectories of thousands of Filipino nurses in the years to come. And as FiND steps boldly into this new chapter, it brings with it a proud Filipino tradition—lifelong learning, collective upliftment, and the tireless pursuit of excellence wherever in the world a Filipino nurse stands.
