The Filipino Social Club (FilSoc) is conducting a town hall meeting this Sunday, October 27, at the Migrant Workers Office (MWO) in Dubai to discuss a proposed online contract verification application.
The club said the online application would be an upgrade to the existing online submission system for contract verification which offers an online submission facility and an onsite payment and collection of verified documents.
“In the new system which is being developed by an external IT provider in cooperation with the Department of Migrant Workers, workers will no longer have to visit MWO-Dubai for contract verification, thereby saving their time, effort, and financial resources,” FilSoc announced.
This comes after a focus group discussion was held last Sunday, October 20, where the views of a select group of Filipino Community (FilCom) leaders and professionals (see photo) on the contract verification process were collated by the Dubai office of a globally recognized leader in verification, equivalency, and immigration compliance solutions committed to enhancing global mobility.
The group were shown the end-to-end online contract verification system that lets Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) upload all documents seamlessly on a portal. The request then goes to the local DMW office which double checks the documents. After which, OFWs can download their verified contracts and the Overseas Employment Certificate (OEC) all within the comforts of their homes or workplaces.
“Having personally experienced the lengthy and stressful contract verification process last April, where I had to endure a 7-hour wait at the DMW office in Dubai, I found the discussion with the representatives to be both productive and timely. It was a privilege to share my insights on the planned digitalization and streamlining of the contract verification process. I am genuinely excited about the rollout of this initiative, as I am confident it will greatly benefit OFWs, particularly those preparing to return to the Philippines for vacation,” expressed Oliver Osea, Senior Commercial Manager of the ITP Media Group.
The other participants were Art Popoy Los Banos, a highly regarded former FilCom leader and prominent PR professional in the UAE; Elmer Casao, a contracts officer and Founding President of both Abu Dhabi-based United Global Filipinos of the 21st Century and Institute of Integrated Electrical Engineers of the Philippines; Zyra Rey, a registered nurse and PRO of the Filipino Social Club (FilSoc) which is the first and only accredited Filipino organization by the Dubai Community Development Authority; Zeny Requizo, an entrepreneur who owns Fifty One & Co. which is a boutique consultancy providing a one-stop-shop hub for Human Capital and People and an adviser of The Unified Filipino HR Professionals; and Ion Gonzaga, a Digital Experience Designer and a widely known blogger using the social media handle Boy Dubai.
