Filipinos want Marcos to prioritize inflation solutions in upcoming SONA—Pulse Asia

Controlling inflation is the top concern Filipinos want President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. to tackle in his upcoming fourth State of the Nation Address (SONA), according to a recent Pulse Asia survey.

The poll, conducted from June 26 to 30 with 1,200 adult respondents nationwide, showed that 32.9% of Filipinos hope the President will address the rising cost of goods and services—a pressing issue especially in Metro Manila (37.8%), the Visayas (44.7%), and among those in socioeconomic Class D (34.2%).

Wage increases and peace and order followed as the next major topics respondents want to hear about, with 13.6% and 13.2%, respectively, citing these concerns.

Other issues raised include job creation (9.8%), poverty and hunger (7.4%), agricultural support (4.1%), financial aid programs (2.8%), corruption (2.4%), and maritime security in the West Philippine Sea (1.6%). A small percentage also mentioned the return of former President Rodrigo Duterte (2.3%) and education reforms (1.3%).

Pulse Asia noted that while inflation and wage concerns topped the list in the rest of Luzon, Mindanao respondents prioritized peace and order (31.3%) alongside inflation (28.8%).

The survey carries a ±2.8% margin of error at a 95% confidence level.
