Filipinos in Dubai embrace wellness and togetherness through ALPAS family fun run

In support of the UAE’s declaration of 2025 as the “Year of Community,” the Philippine Consulate General in Dubai has teamed up with 3f Striders to organize ALPAS: A 4km Family Fun Run, a meaningful event aimed at fostering unity, wellness, and togetherness among Filipinos and the wider Dubai community.

Set against the backdrop of the national theme “Hand in Hand,” this first-time collaboration between the Consulate and the Filipino running group celebrates more than fitness—it symbolizes the collective spirit of overcoming challenges and building stronger bonds.

ALPAS—a Filipino word meaning “to break free”—represents the idea of liberation through shared effort, health, and solidarity. Designed as an inclusive activity, the event encourages participation from people of all ages, whether they choose to run, walk, or cheer from the sidelines.

Consul General Marford Angeles expressed his support for 3f Striders’ advocacy, praising their commitment to health, faith, and inclusivity. He emphasized that the values upheld by the group mirror the best of both Filipino and Emirati cultures.

The event not only promotes physical wellness but also underscores the importance of community engagement. It offers a platform for Filipino families, consulate staff, and other residents of Dubai to come together and connect in a fun, positive way.
