The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) has reminded Filipinos seeking employment in Qatar that they should not be charged placement fees. This policy aligns with Article 33 of Qatar Law No. 14 of 2004, which prohibits licensed recruitment agencies from charging foreign workers for recruitment fees, expenses, or any related costs.
“Qatar is a non-placement fee labor-receiving country,” said DMW Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac in an advisory posted on the department’s Facebook page. The advisory emphasized that agencies found violating this rule could have their licenses canceled.
The advisory will come into effect 15 days after its issuance, according to the DMW.
