Filipino Yachtsmen Association wraps up Sportsfest 2025 with thrilling finals in Dubai

The Filipino Yachtsmen Association (FYA) officially closed its Sportsfest 2025 with an electrifying championship night on May 19 at the Al Wasl Sports Club in Dubai. The culmination marked the end of two months of intense, friendly competition that brought together hundreds of Filipino athletes and spectators from across Dubai and the Northern Emirates.

The finals night highlighted the victories of division champions. Amit Engineering rose to the top in the PETMALU Division, demonstrating unwavering grit and coordination. Supreme / Seatech / Leisure secured the championship in the LODI Division with dominating performances throughout the tournament.

In badminton, Palm West earned the title of overall champion, while FYA’s very own Iris and Rona claimed victory in the Badminton All-Star Doubles. Meanwhile, in a much-anticipated All-Star basketball exhibition match, the Migrant Workers Office—led by Labor Attaché Atty. John Rio Bautista—emerged triumphant.

Adding prestige to the occasion were the appearances of distinguished Filipino leaders in the UAE, including H.E. Marford Angeles, Consul General of the Philippines in Dubai and the Northern Emirates; Atty. John Rio Bautista, Labor Attaché at POLO Dubai; and Mr. Ericson Reyes, President of the Filipino Social Club (FILSOC). Their presence served as a testament to the unifying power of sports and the strength of the Filipino community overseas.

Spearheaded by FYA President Capt. Samuel Cabico and Vice President Capt. Ronaldo Lipaopao, the annual sportsfest has grown into a key event that not only fosters athletic excellence but also reinforces camaraderie among overseas Filipinos.

Organized by PEBA Sports Management, the finals night ran seamlessly, blending fierce competition with laughter and celebration. As the cheers settled and trophies were awarded, what remained was a renewed sense of unity—proof that, win or lose, the heart of the Filipino community continues to beat strong abroad.
