Filipino worker who died in Myanmar quake finally laid to rest in Rizal

Francis “Chit” Aragon, one of the four Filipinos who tragically lost their lives in the devastating 7.7-magnitude earthquake that struck Mandalay, Myanmar on March 28, was laid to rest today, May 28, 2025, at the Sto. Rosario Memorial Park in Binangonan, Rizal.

Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) Secretary Hans Leo J. Cacdac personally attended the burial to extend condolences and offer support to the bereaved family. “Our hearts go out to the family of Francis Aragon and all those who mourn his passing. The government stands ready to extend all possible support to ease their burden during this period of grief,” Cacdac said.

Aragon’s remains arrived in the Philippines on May 24 through the coordinated efforts of the Philippine Embassy in Yangon and the Migrant Workers Office (MWO) in Bangkok.

A beloved husband and father, Aragon is survived by his wife, Mae Kathleen C. Aragon, and their two children—Riley, 4, and Emmeyt, 2. He was remembered not only for his contributions to education but also for his warmth, humor, and the positive impact he left on those around him.

During a prior visit to the family last April 12, Secretary Cacdac instructed the DMW Region IV-A office to assist with funeral arrangements and ensure all necessary aid reaches the Aragon family, as directed by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
