Filipino women’s group in Bahrain marks new year with thanksgiving dinner

Jidhafs, Bahrain — Dinah Sta. Ana, President of Pinay Ikaw Na (PIN), hosted a thanksgiving dinner on January 9, 2026, at her family residence in Jidhafs. The event was attended by PIN members, friends, as well as community and religious leaders of the Filipino community in Bahrain.

Ms. Sta. Ana said, “The event was organized to mark a new beginning for the year and to foster unity and collaboration within the community.”

Pinay Ikaw Na (PIN) is recognized as the largest women’s organization in Bahrain and works closely with the Migrant Workers Office (MWO), the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), and the Philippine Embassy in assisting and empowering Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs).

Apart from its Dressmaking Skills Training, which has successfully completed six batches since 2022—the only organization to achieve this while offering the program free of charge in partnership with OWWA and MWO—PIN partners with Philippine government agencies in providing various livelihood and skills-enhancement seminars, including meat processing, baking, candle making, massage therapy, beauty and hair skills workshops, and financial literacy. These programs aim to equip OFWs, especially women, with practical skills for personal development and sustainable livelihood opportunities, primarily to prepare them for reintegration once they return home.

PIN has also extended help to Filipinos battling cancer through charity work and community outreach programs demonstrating its commitment to supporting the Filipino community beyond skills and livelihood development.

The thanksgiving dinner was graced by leaders of Katolikong Pinoy sa Bahrain. Also present were Rev. Fr. Jusfer John Abert, OFM Cap.; Rev. Fr. Rolly Regner; Rev. Fr. Robert Mendoza; and Rev. Fr. Anthony Almazan, OFM Cap., who led the prayer. The event provided a valuable platform for enhancing collaboration among Filipino organizations and community leaders in the Kingdom.

Ms. Sta. Ana, a former banker married to a Bahraini national continues to be a strong advocate of women empowerment and migrant welfare. Under her leadership, PIN remains steadfast in its mission of service, solidarity, and community empowerment.
