Filipino traveler from Dubai witnesses the grand opening of the Great Egyptian Museum

Filipino pride resonated at one of the world’s most anticipated cultural unveilings as Josh Vasquez, the Regional Sales Head for Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) at Philippine Airlines, shared breathtaking images from the Grand Egyptian Museum’s official opening on November 1, 2025.

In a Facebook post, Vasquez described the experience as “a surreal moment walking through the halls of The Great Egyptian Museum, the world’s biggest archaeological museum.” Located near the iconic Pyramids of Giza, the newly opened museum houses over 100,000 artefacts, including the complete collection of Tutankhamun’s treasures, displayed together for the first time in history.

His shared photos showcase remarkable pieces from Egypt’s ancient past, such as the statue of Ramesses II, the Great Sphinx, and the gold coffin of King Tutankhamun, each echoing the grandeur of the pharaonic era. “Every piece here tells a story of ancient Egypt’s incredible legacy, and I’m beyond blessed to witness it in person!” Vasquez wrote, expressing awe at the scale and preservation of the artefacts.

The Grand Egyptian Museum—two decades in the making and reportedly costing over $1 billion—is now considered the world’s largest museum dedicated to a single civilization. The opening drew international attention, with leaders, archaeologists, and cultural icons from around the world attending. The project aims to make Giza not only a heritage landmark but also a global hub for tourism and education.

The museum features inclusive facilities for visitors of all abilities and immersive exhibition halls designed to tell the story of Egypt’s 5,000-year civilization through art, innovation, and architecture.
