A Filipino technology professional has made history in Saudi Arabia’s digital transformation landscape. Mike Panghulan, currently serving as Assistant Vice President – IT Project Management at a leading sovereign investment entity in Saudi Arabia, was honored as one of the Tech 100 – Pioneers of the Digital Age (Saudi Arabia Edition) at the Intelligent Data, AI & Automation Summit (IDA Summit) organized by Capstone at the Crowne Plaza Riyadh Al Waha on October 8, 2025.
He proudly emerged as the only Filipino honoree among distinguished Saudi and global technology leaders recognized “in acknowledgment of outstanding contribution to advancing technology in the Kingdom.” This milestone reflects not only Panghulan’s dedication to innovation but also the rising influence of Filipino professionals contributing to the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 digital transformation agenda.

The IDA Summit 2025 gathered top CIOs, CTOs, CDOs, cybersecurity executives, government decision-makers, and technology experts to explore the future of digital infrastructure, AI adoption, and enterprise automation. Hosted over two days from October 8–9, 2025, the summit featured keynote sessions, panel discussions, executive roundtables, case studies, and curated one-on-one meetings. It also spotlighted innovation and leadership through prestigious awards including Tech100 Saudi, CIO100 Saudi, and Women in Tech 50, celebrating individuals reshaping Saudi Arabia’s digital ecosystem.
Speaking about the recognition, Panghulan shared the significance of the moment both personally and culturally. “It’s such an honor to be recognized among the Tech 100 – Pioneers of the Digital Age,” he shared with TGFM. “It made me pause and reflect on how far I’ve come since I first started working as an entry-level tech support. It’s a reminder that every challenge, every risk, and every long night was worth it. Most of all, it’s a proud moment to represent the Filipino community on a global stage.”
While respecting confidentiality policies of his organization, Panghulan highlighted his expertise and passion in his professional journey. “I leverage my expertise in technology strategy, project leadership, and team collaboration to deliver meaningful projects,” he explained. “What excites me most is leading initiatives that enable people to work smarter, encourage innovation, and make a lasting impact.” He emphasized that his success is rooted in strategic thinking, adaptability, and a people-first leadership approach.

Asked what set him apart in becoming the only Filipino honoree, he said, “I think it comes down to consistency and purpose. Excellence isn’t about being the loudest in the room but about quietly doing your best, day after day, until the results speak for themselves. As Filipinos, we’re naturally resilient and adaptable… maybe that authenticity and drive to create real impact helped me stand out.”
Panghulan also spoke proudly about the rising presence of Filipinos in Saudi Arabia’s technology sector, saying, “Filipinos are playing key roles in IT, engineering, healthcare, and management. We’re bridge-builders, helping connect technology with real human value. We don’t just work for results—we work with empathy, and those qualities are essential in digital transformation.”
Reflecting on his career abroad, he emphasized the human side of technology. “Technology alone doesn’t transform organizations—people do,” he shared. “Leadership in tech is not just about managing and executing state-of-the-art IT projects but empowering people to innovate and grow with purpose.”

For Panghulan, every milestone is grounded in humility and gratitude. “Working in a competitive environment where Filipinos often need to work twice as hard to be recognized has taught me to keep moving forward,” he said. “My family and friends have always been my biggest inspiration… every time I see another Filipino succeed, it feels like a shared victory.”
He leaves a message for aspiring Filipino tech professionals worldwide:
“Always believe in your value. Step out of your comfort zone—that’s where real growth begins. Keep learning, stay open to feedback, and take pride in being Filipino wherever you go. Don’t just chase titles—focus on growth, integrity, and purpose. And when you make it, lift others along the way, because success becomes more meaningful when it’s shared.”
