The Philippine Teachers Association Bahrain (PTAB) proudly hosted its 7th Educators’ Convention and Awards Night on October 17, 2025, at the Ramada Hotel, Seef bringing together approximately 90 Filipino educators, school leaders, and distinguished guests from various educational institutions.
Held in honor of the global celebration of World Teachers’ Day, the event carried the powerful theme, “Shaping Minds. Building Nations: Honoring the Resilient Voices of Filipino Teachers in Bahrain.” It served as both a tribute to the vital role of educators abroad and a recognition of their unwavering commitment to excellence and nation-building.
Labor Attaché, Dr. Orville Ballitoc of the Philippine Embassy in Bahrain attended the event as the distinguished guest and expressed gratitude to all the educators for the significant influence they have made in their profession, which extends well beyond mere classroom teaching.



A key moment of the evening was the engaging keynote speech delivered by Dr. Annie B. Domede, whose motivating message highlighted the essential functions of teachers as carriers of knowledge and advocates of social transformation. As Dr. Annie revealed the full range of global educational challenges, she eloquently stated, “Filipino teachers abroad may be away from home, but their impact crosses borders, molding minds, constructing nations, and fostering hope wherever they are.”

A central aspect of the program was the “Most Outstanding Filipino Educators in Bahrain 2025” awards, which were given in two distinct categories: The Basic Education awardee, Ms. Nadine Mae Zarate from the Nasser Center for Science and Technology, received accolades for her exemplary performance, significant contributions, innovative practices, and substantial influence on the academic development of her students and the institution she represented.
On the other hand, the Tertiary Level awardee, Dr. Lina S. Calucag, a distinguished educator at the University Technology Bahrain, was recognized for her exceptional contributions to higher education, research, and community involvement. Both recipients embodied the principles of innovative leadership and enhanced the pride and esteem of Filipino educators worldwide.
The convention also honored the recipients of service awards who have dedicated 5, 10, 15, and 20 years to teaching in Bahrain, as well as those who passed the 2025 Special Professional Licensure Examination for Teachers (SPLE). These committed Filipino educators were acknowledged not only for their years of service but also for their exceptional dedication and enthusiasm, which have strengthened the Filipino educational presence in the kingdom.



PTAB expressed immense pride following the exceptional performance of one of its candidates in the recent Special Professional Licensure Examination (SPLE). Ms. Ana Liza Valencia achieved the remarkable feat of ranking among the top examinees, earning the prestigious title of Top 3 taker for the combined Middle East and Singapore region in June 2025. Dr. Arthur Basbas, PTAB Vice President Internal, remarked that the organization is celebrating this significant milestone, confirming that a candidate mentored by PTAB successfully attained a position in the top three during the rigorous examination.
A particularly notable aspect of the convention was the presentation of the esteemed Leadership Award. This prestigious accolade was proudly bestowed upon Dr. Junifer Abatayo, recognizing his exceptional contributions and unwavering commitment. The award specifically honored his outstanding leadership and dedicated service during his tenure as the former president of PTAB, acknowledging his pivotal role and the high standard he set for the organization.
As the evening drew to a close, the PTAB Executive Committee, led by President, Rowena Desierto, diligently endeavored to surround all officers and members with an ambiance filled with genuine gratitude and renewed inspiration. Ms. Desierto profoundly highlighted that the 7th Educators’ Convention and Awards Night was more than just an acknowledgment of the remarkable achievements of Filipino educators; it represented a lively celebration of their common mission, shared identity, and steadfast dedication to serving the people of Bahrain.


Dr. Arthur Basbas delivered the closing remarks, offering heartfelt gratitude and reflection to cap off a night of celebration and inspiration.
Steering the evening with elegance and professional charm were the distinguished masters of ceremony, Mr. Clarence Serquenia and Ms. Malou Guimarangan. Their captivating rapport, clear announcements, and delightful humor ensured the program progressed seamlessly—engaging the audience and maintaining a vibrant atmosphere from beginning to end.
