Lea Salonga and Dolly de Leon, both acclaimed Filipino performers, recently shared their thoughts on the joys of life and the achievements of two-time Olympic gold medalist Carlos Yulo. The conversation took place last Wednesday at the Samsung Performing Arts Theater in Circuit Makati during a discussion about their upcoming play “Request sa Radyo.”
When asked by Tony Award-winning costume designer Clint Ramos, one of the play’s producers, about what brings them happiness, Salonga mentioned her love for good work, travel, and spending time with loved ones. De Leon enthusiastically agreed, adding that being home and Carlos Yulo’s success also bring her joy, a sentiment that was met with cheers from the audience.
Salonga further expressed her admiration for Yulo and the country’s two female boxers, highlighting her appreciation for a drama-free, fulfilling life. De Leon echoed this sentiment, with both agreeing that “drama belongs on stage, not in life.”
“Request sa Radyo” will have a limited run from October 10 to 20 at the Samsung Performing Arts Theater, with Salonga and De Leon performing the solo piece in alternating shows.
