The Filipino dessert Silvanas has secured a place in the “Top 200 Cookies in the World” list by the online food database TasteAtlas, ranking at 25th with a four-star rating. This rating places it alongside France’s Macarons (ranked 17th) and England’s Cornish fairing (ranked 29th).
TasteAtlas describes Silvanas as “frozen cookie sandwiches made with two cashew-meringue wafers, held together with a thick layer of buttercream, and generously coated in cashew crumbs,” noting that they are the snack version of Sans Rival. The database also mentions that Silvanas come in various flavors and are best enjoyed well-chilled or frozen.
Scotland’s Petticoat Tails, buttery shortbread biscuits, topped the list with an impressive 4.6 stars, followed by Algeria’s Makroud el louse and the Latin American Alfajores. The Dutch Stroopwafel and the Greek Melomakarona completed the top five.
Chocolate chip cookies landed at the seventh spot, while the highest-ranked Asian cookie, Türkiye’s Izmir Bombasi, took the 14th position. Silvanas is the next Asian cookie on the list, followed by the Middle Eastern Ma’amoul at number 31.
The updated list, as of June 16, is based on 8,076 legitimate ratings from TasteAtlas’ audience, filtering out bot, nationalist, or local patriotic ratings from a total of 10,804 recorded votes.
