The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) announced on Tuesday that it is halting the deployment of Filipino seafarers to ships owned by a company whose vessels have been attacked in the Red Sea by Houthi rebels, ABS-CBN News reports.
The affected vessels include the Galaxy Leader, True Confidence, and Tutor. To ensure safety, a joint security team from the Philippine Navy, Coast Guard, MARINA, and the Department of Foreign Affairs will conduct security assessments before clearing Filipino seafarers to board any ships traveling through the region.
Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Cacdac confirmed that all 27 Filipino crew members aboard the MV Transworld Navigator, recently attacked by Houthis, are safe and have been rerouted to a secure port.
