Filipino Private School in Sharjah celebrates UAE National Day with cultural unity

As the United Arab Emirates marks its 53rd National Day, the Filipino Private School in Sharjah joined the nation-wide celebrations by highlighting the deep connection between the Filipino community and their adopted country. The school organized a festive event where students performed traditional Emirati dances, showcasing their respect and appreciation for the UAE’s rich culture.

Approved by the Sharjah Private Education Authority (SPEA) and the Ministry of Education, the Filipino Private School plays a pivotal role in the lives of many Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and their families. By offering the Philippine curriculum, the school ensures that Filipino children stay connected to their heritage while receiving a high-quality education abroad. Plans to integrate the British curriculum in the future aim to provide students with a global perspective, preparing them for opportunities worldwide.

The National Day celebration at the school was more than just a festive occasion; it was a testament to the multicultural harmony that the UAE fosters. Students donned traditional Emirati attire and participated in cultural performances, bridging gaps between communities and reinforcing the values of unity and respect. Parents and faculty members expressed pride in the students’ enthusiasm to embrace and honor the culture of their second home.

“The UAE has given us so much—a safe environment, opportunities for growth, and a place where our families can thrive together,” said a school representative. “Celebrating National Day is our way of expressing gratitude and showing that we are committed to contributing positively to this great nation.”

The Filipino community, numbering over 700,000 in the UAE, has seen a significant shift in recent years. Many OFWs are no longer just working abroad to support families back home; they are bringing their loved ones to build a life in the UAE. This change underscores the importance of institutions like the Filipino Private School, which help preserve cultural identity while fostering integration into the broader society.
