24-year-old Filipino Andrei “Nico” Gianan was fatally shot in Los Angeles. The incident occurred in the early hours of New Year’s Day, leaving the local community and Gianan’s family in shock.
The Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department reported that Gianan was found with a gunshot wound to the head on the 1400 block of 11th Street, shortly after 1 a.m. on January 1. Gianan, who had just finished his shift at a Wingstop in San Pedro, tragically succumbed to his injuries.
As of now, the law enforcement authorities are actively investigating the case but have not identified any suspects or established a motive for the shooting. The absence of arrests has heightened the anxiety and uncertainty among Gianan’s family and friends.
Gianan’s family, grappling with the sudden loss, expressed their belief that he was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time. To support the family during this difficult period and to help with funeral expenses, an online fundraiser was set up. The community has shown tremendous support, raising over $17,000 in less than a week.
This incident has cast a somber mood over the community’s New Year celebrations and raised concerns about safety in the area. The Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department is urging anyone with information about the shooting to come forward to assist in their ongoing investigation.
