The Filipino Librarians Association-UAE made history with its first-ever Filipino Librarians-AI Workshop, held on October 4, 2025, at the Abu Dhabi School of Management.
Leading the session was Dr. Raiza Dimapilis, founder of Project PINAI (Filipino for AI) and a dedicated educator. The workshop tackled key topics such as the history, relevance, and evolving role of artificial intelligence—culminating in an interactive prompt-building activity designed to help participants harness AI tools in their professional practice.
Highlighting the evolving role of technology in the field, Dr. Dimapilis posed a thought-provoking question: “Will AI replace you?” The discussion closed with the concept that change is inevitable, but transformation is collaborative — “YOU and AI will replace the old you.”
Following the workshop, participants were treated to a special VIP tour of the Louvre Abu Dhabi, arranged through the Office of International Affairs and Executive Development of the Abu Dhabi School of Management, led by Dr. Constance Van Horne. The visit also marked a newly signed memorandum of understanding between the two institutions, aimed at advancing impactful academic collaborations.
For the attending Filipino librarians, the highlight of the museum visit was seeing Juan Luna’s “Una Bulaqueña,” an artwork that resonated deeply with national pride and resilience. The tour, organized with the support of Hamad Al Hosani, head of the Louvre Abu Dhabi’s International & Institutional Affairs, and protocol officer Abdulla Alblooshi, offered a moment of reflection on the power of art, identity, and lifelong learning.
The Filipino Librarians Association-UAE and the Abu Dhabi School of Management expressed hopes that this initiative will spark ongoing partnerships promoting cultural appreciation and innovation within the academic community.
