The AUsome Family Journey (AFJ) a POD Global Filipino Community, a Filipino -led support group dedicated to uplifting families of people of determination (PODs), held its second annual Oath-Taking Ceremony at the Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi. This yearly event is more than a formality—it is a solemn reminder of the organization’s collective promise to serve with integrity, humility, and compassion.
The ceremony was honored by the presence of His Excellency Ambassador Alfonso Ferdinand A. Ver, who shared an inspiring message with AFJ’s servant leaders. He spoke of the remarkable growth of AFJ over the years, emphasizing how its impact on the neurodivergent community continues to inspire hope. Ambassador Ver reaffirmed his strong support for initiatives that uplift Filipino families, especially those navigating the challenges and triumphs of neurodiversity.
The new roster of AFJ leaders reflects the group’s commitment to holistic service. This year’s officers include Learning Support Assistant (LSAs), therapists, nurses, Special Educators and neurodivergent parents—a dynamic team that brings both professional expertise and personal understanding to the community they serve. Together, they embody the vision of AFJ: a community where Filipino neurodivergent families find strength, dignity, and belonging.
AFJ President and Founder, Pamela Calinog—recognized as an Emerging Global Filipino Icon 2025 and the UAE Ambassador of the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower—closed the ceremony with heartfelt remarks. She reminded the officers and volunteers of the guiding values of AFJ: integrity, accountability, excellence, and humility. With these principles, she encouraged the team to remain steadfast in their selfless service.
At the core of the event was the AFJ Pledge of Commitment—a powerful declaration of advocacy, unity, and resilience. Each officer and volunteer pledged to champion inclusivity, honor the dignity of every individual, and nurture stronger family relationships for mental, physical, and spiritual well-being.
The pledge beautifully affirms:
“I do solemnly pledge to uphold the values of courage, perseverance, and unity that define our organization, AUsome Family Journey… I will work tirelessly to break down barriers, championing a world where everyone can achieve their fullest potential… With this oath, I affirm my dedication to the mission of AUsome Family Journey and to the vision of a more equitable and compassionate world.”
The ceremony concluded with renewed strength and solidarity, as AFJ servant leaders embraced once more their mission: to journey hand in hand with families, fostering purpose, inclusion, and hope for the Filipino neurodivergent community in the UAE.
As part of this continuing mission, AFJ also announced its upcoming flagship event—the Sports of Determination, a name proudly conceptualized by AFJ for its annual sportsfest. More than just a sports competition, the Sports of Determination is a celebration designed with fun, therapy-inspired activities that transform challenges into opportunities for growth and joy. It honors the strength, spirit, and joy of neurodivergent children, giving them a stage where they can fully participate, shine, and inspire others.
True to AFJ’s vision, this uniquely designed event will not only celebrate abilities but also strengthen family relationships and promote well-being through the joy of inclusive play.
