Filipino-led animal rescue group in Abu Dhabi brings together fur parents and rescuers

In celebration of World Animal Day, the Abu Dhabi Paws Group held its first-ever anniversary meet and greet on October 4, 2025, at Sand Castle Studio Media in Al Danah Zone 1, Abu Dhabi—bringing together Filipino animal rescuers and fur parents from across the UAE.

Founded by Aizel Leger and Jonathan Sibol, the Abu Dhabi Paws Group is a volunteer-driven initiative dedicated to animal rescue, rehoming, feeding programs, and the advocacy of TNR (trap-neuter-return). What began as a small online community has since evolved into a strong network of support for animal lovers and rescuers.

Over 40 Filipino attendees—ranging from independent rescuers and stray feeders to proud fur parents—gathered to connect and celebrate their shared commitment to animal welfare. With the group’s mission, “To make a difference one paw at a time,” the event emphasized compassion, education, and unity among pet advocates.

Attendees took part in interactive activities such as raffles, games, and pet story sharing, while also learning more about responsible pet ownership and community-based rescue efforts.
