Filipino group in Bahrain gives out 800 iftar meals during Ramadan outreach

Manama, Bahrain – The Kaisahan ng mga Filipino Balik Islam sa Bahrain (KFBI-BH) successfully conducted its Ramadan Iftaar Distribution Program – Year 3 on February 20 at the Adliya Masjid, distributing approximately 800 iftar packages to fasting individuals.

The initiative was organized in collaboration with the Philippine Nurses Association – Bahrain (PNAB) and supported by several community organizations. Around 100 volunteers from nine groups participated in the meaningful outreach activity.

Each iftar package contained water, dates, laban or juice, and ma’amoul biscuits, providing nourishment for those breaking their fast at sunset.

According to Julius Jude P. Mamaclay, President of KFBI-BH, the project was inspired by the organization’s mission to strengthen ties within the Muslim community.

“One of the projects of KFBI-BH is to reach out to the Muslim community and develop strong camaraderie. In 2024, one of the officers from Bahrain Noble Eagles approached me about a possible collaboration for an Iftar distribution. During Ramadan 2024, we started this project,” Mamaclay shared.

“As I live next to the Adliya Masjid and am acquainted with the Imam, it was quite easy for me to seek permission for the proposed project,” he said.

Mamaclay emphasized that this year’s program marked a significant milestone. “This year is different from the previous years because more organizations joined the project. It is especially significant to the Muslim community since most of the volunteers are non-Muslims. This shows unity and solidarity among different faiths and cultures,” he highlighted.

The event was attended by PNAB President Cynthia Amar, together with the officers of the Philippine Nurses Association – Bahrain,

Supporting organizations included United Bicololanos in Bahrain, Bahrain Noble Region, Hidd Noble Eagles Club, Bahrain Noble Ladies Eagles Club, Matikas Guardians, Guardians Royal Blood International Inc., and United Citizens Crime Watch Inc.

Beyond the distribution of meals, the event strengthened bonds among Filipinos and the broader multicultural community in Bahrain. Now on its third year, the Ramadan Iftaar Distribution Program stands as a testament to KFBI-BH’s enduring commitment to humanitarian service, unity, and cooperation across diverse communities in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
