Filipino fashion icon Michael Cinco named one of Tatler Asia’s most influential in the Philippines

Dubai-based Filipino designer Michael Cinco has been honored as one of Tatler Asia’s Most Influential in the Philippines, a recognition that celebrates visionaries shaping culture, society, and the economy on a global scale. Known for his opulent and breathtaking designs, Cinco has captivated fashion audiences around the world, dressing A-list celebrities and royals alike, and creating iconic looks that have graced the Miss Universe pageant and the runways of Paris Fashion Week.

In response to his inclusion in Tatler Asia’s esteemed list, Cinco shared his gratitude on social media, posting: “Deeply honored to be chosen as one of Tatler Asia’s Most Influential, celebrating visionaries across industries shaping society, culture, and the economy on a global scale. Grateful to stand alongside remarkable trailblazers committed to making a lasting impact. Here’s to inspiring change together…”

Cinco’s journey to the pinnacle of fashion began in Samar, Philippines, where his love for glamour and Hollywood-inspired elegance took root. After moving to Dubai in 1997 and establishing his own fashion line in 2003, Cinco rapidly gained acclaim for his luxurious designs. His intricate, Swarovski-studded pieces reflect the influence of classic Hollywood stars like Audrey Hepburn, giving his creations an old-world charm intertwined with a modern flair. Tatler Asia describes Cinco as a designer whose “opulent designs have brought him to global prominence,” a reflection of his impact on both the Filipino and international fashion stages.

With a client roster that includes Hollywood superstars Jennifer Lopez, Lady Gaga, and Beyoncé, Cinco’s influence is undeniable. His designs have not only dominated red carpets but also set new standards in high fashion. Tatler Asia highlighted his recent collaboration with Bollywood icon Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, who wore a butterfly-inspired gown that took 3,000 hours to complete at the Cannes Film Festival in 2023. Most recently, Cinco’s Spring-Summer 2025 show at Paris Fashion Week featured Filipino-inspired terno sleeves, showcasing his pride in his heritage while pushing the boundaries of couture.

Cinco’s influence will extend further this November as he joins the judging panel for the 73rd Miss Universe pageant in Mexico. He will join international luminaries such as Lele Pons, Emilio Estefan, and Margaret Gardiner in selecting the next Miss Universe.

Tatler Asia’s Most Influential list also includes other prominent Filipino figures, such as UnionBank’s Ana Maria Aboitiz-Delgado, San Miguel Corporation’s Ramon S. Ang, and Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte, underscoring a shared commitment to driving positive change.
