On the first day of the UAE Amnesty Program, the Philippine Consulate General in Dubai, led by Consul General Marford M. Angeles, extended crucial support to Filipino nationals seeking to legalize their residency status. Consul General Angeles, accompanied by Vice Consul Aleah Gica and the Assistance-to-Nationals (ATN) team, visited the Al Aweer Immigration facility to assist Filipinos navigating the amnesty process.
During the visit, Consul General Angeles met with senior officials from the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) Dubai, including H.E. Lieutenant General Mohammed Ahmed Rashid Al Marri, Director General, and H.E. Major General Obaid Muhair bin Suroor, Deputy Director General. The discussions marked the official launch of the amnesty program, which aims to provide a pathway for undocumented residents to regularize their status.
The ATN team provided assistance at Al Aweer Immigration by answering questions regarding lost passports, issuing travel documents, and explaining the process for obtaining exit passes for those returning to the Philippines. For Filipinos with job offers, the team offered guidance on necessary steps to remain legally in the UAE. Meanwhile, the consulate’s team handled numerous inquiries at their office, assisting Filipinos in understanding the amnesty process, retrieving surrendered passports, and fulfilling consular service requirements.
The Philippine Consulate General in Dubai commended the proactive efforts of Filipino nationals participating in the amnesty program and urged others to seize this opportunity to ensure compliance with UAE regulations and secure their legal status in the country.
