Filipino ER nurse praised for helping pregnant accident victim at Dubai’s City Walk

A Filipino emergency room nurse in Dubai is drawing praise online after stepping in to assist a pregnant woman who was injured in an accident at City Walk, staying by her side until paramedics arrived.

Jathniel Timotheus Alipio, 25, an ER registered nurse at Dubai London Hospital, said he was walking with a friend to get breakfast when the incident happened in front of them.

“I was walking with my friend to get breakfast for chipotle, then suddenly a scooter hit the woman in the head I immediately went there and introduced myself. I told the woman that i am nurse in emergency department,” Alipio shared with TGFM.

He said the situation immediately became more urgent after the woman informed him that she was pregnant, prompting him to act quickly and assess her condition.

“At first the woman told me, she was pregnant so i immediately told my friend to get a water. then while i was pulling her i started noticing the blood and ask somebody to call for an ambulance,” he said.

With no medical equipment available at the scene, Alipio said he had to rely on what was accessible while waiting for proper emergency supplies.

“Since I didnt have any resources before the first aid kit comes I used tissue paper to stop the bleeding,” he said.

Alipio added that emergency responders arrived within minutes and he immediately turned over the situation to the team.

“It didnt took so long, it took only 15 mins before they arrive and i endorse it immediately to them,” he said.

He also credited bystanders who assisted him during the emergency by providing materials he could use to manage the bleeding.

“They are helpful actually as some of them are getting any resources that i can use to stop the bleeding,” he said.

Alipio, who has been working abroad for two years, said his decision to step in was instinctive and rooted in basic human compassion.

“I feel like its my responsibility not just as a nurse but also as a human to be kind,” he said.

He also shared a message for fellow Filipinos in the UAE, encouraging them to help others whenever possible.

“Always choose to be nice and kind. because in a world you can be anything always be someone with a good heart,” Alipio said.

Dubai handles emergency incidents through a centralized response system supported by police, ambulance, and civil defence units, with hotlines including 999 for police, 998 for ambulance services, and 997 for fire and civil defence.
