Filipino death toll in Israel-Hamas conflict rises to four

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) has confirmed another Filipino casualty in the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict, bringing the total number of Filipino casualties to four. Foreign Affairs Secretary Enrique Manalo made the announcement, expressing regret over the tragic incident.

Manalo stated, “I regret to inform the nation that we have received confirmation from the Israeli government of another Filipino casualty in Israel.” He made this statement via a post on an undisclosed platform.

The DFA chief also emphasized that the government would provide assistance to the affected family. He noted, “Out of respect for the wishes of the family, we shall be withholding details on the identity of the victim. But we have assured the family of the Government’s full support and assistance.”

Foreign Affairs Undersecretary Eduardo De Vega, in a separate interview with CNN Philippines, revealed that the victim was one of the three missing Filipinos. At the time of the deadly Hamas attack, she was working as a caregiver.

De Vega further confirmed that the family of the latest fatality has been informed of the tragic news.

The DFA also provided reassurance that Filipinos residing in Gaza are not currently facing a complete shortage of food. Additionally, the Philippines and Israel are actively working on an arrangement to facilitate the safe crossing of Filipinos at the border amid the conflict.
