The Okir: Philippine Dance Music Concert, a flagship event by SCLC, achieved undeniable success with an evening full of cultural and traditional celebration at the Pixoul Events Hall, Al Qana. This marked the first Filipino cultural project to utilize the world-class facilities at the venue.
Nearly a thousand attendees, dressed in elegant formal wear, gathered for the unprecedented and grand launch of Filipino culture and heritage in the UAE. The event attracted Filipino and foreign dignitaries, community leaders, businesspeople, educators, and various organizations, all united in their support for shared cultural values.
The concert was conceptualized by JunalAbdullah Lamiin, COO and Creative Director of SCLC, and licensed by ProXperts. Guests enjoyed a blend of world-class cultural artistry and modern innovation, showcased on one of the largest LED screens in the region, measuring 78 square meters. This digital marvel enhanced the live performances, creating a fusion of traditional and contemporary art that left the audience in awe.
Attendees adorned in stunning gowns and classic barongs embodied the essence of living culture and heritage. The event’s success was attributed to the hard work and dedication of numerous individuals, especially the talented musicians, singers, and dancers, including those from OPMMAD who performed as individual artists.
Special recognition went to the trio behind the event: JunalAbdullah “Jun” Lami-in, visionary project concept and creative director; Benjamin “Jimbo” Alonzo Sioson III, the exceptional cultural choreographer and production stage director; and David Mendoza, the brilliant digital artist and graphics motion expert.
SCLC and the PDMC: Okir project owners expressed deep gratitude to everyone involved, especially the behind-the-scenes teams, sponsors, and supporters from various businesses and organizations.
