Indian-Filipino couple and eatery owner team up to distribute food aid to workers in Bahrain

In a remarkable display of generosity and community spirit, food packs and grocery items were distributed to affected individuals through the kindness of the couple King and Gab, along with Pilgreg Allaga Baod, owner of Atarah’s Eatery in Gudaibiya. Their timely initiative delivered much-needed relief to families facing uncertainty, providing not only essential supplies but also renewed hope during a challenging time.

Their act of kindness provided much-needed relief and support to members of the community during this challenging time. Beneficiaries mostly from members of Cordillera Overseas Filipino Workers Solidarity Bahrain (COSB) expressed their heartfelt gratitude for the assistance, saying the donations brought both comfort and hope amid uncertainty.

The initiative reflects the spirit of volunteerism and compassion among Filipinos abroad, proving that even in difficult situations, there are individuals willing to extend help to those in need.

Josephine Salvador, 58, a cleaner holding a flexible visa and currently working at a school, said she voluntarily stopped going to work out of fear due to the difficult situation. Salvador, who also serves as the Cultural Affairs Officer of COSB, expressed her heartfelt gratitude for the assistance she received.

“Thank you to Mr. King and Ms. Gab, and also to the president of COSB, Pilgreg Allaga. The food pack is a big help and serves as support during this time,” she said.

Despite the uncertainty caused by the ongoing conflict in the region, a Filipina sales representative in Bahrain remains hopeful and deeply grateful for the kindness she continues to receive.

Rhea Rost, 41, from Cebu, has been working as a Sales Representative at the Shein Hoora branch for 3 years. Amid the challenging situation, Rost shared that while the events unfolding were unexpected, she finds comfort in the generosity of people around her.

“What’s happening is unexpected, but despite everything, there are still people who are willing to help,” she said.

She expressed sincere appreciation for those extending assistance during this difficult time, saying their support has been a source of strength and encouragement.

King and Gab, well-known humanitarians, said they gave from the heart to help distressed OFWs and other nationals. They began distributing food packs from the shelter where expatriates were evacuated and have been assisting people from various nationalities. Their efforts are part of ongoing charitable work to support those affected during this difficult time.

Meanwhile, in observance of Ramadan, Atarah’s Eatery remains closed during the day but open to welcome individuals for packed food

Cordillera Overseas Filipino Workers Solidarity Bahrain (COSB) has been formed to unite overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) of Cordillera descent, aiming to preserve their culture, provide support, and promote volunteerism among members.

The group seeks to foster a sense of community while promoting and preserving Cordillera culture, traditions, and values. It also aims to provide mutual support through welfare assistance, information sharing, and guidance for members facing challenges abroad.

By providing both material support and a sense of community, they not only help individuals navigate difficult times but also strengthen cultural ties and inspire others to extend a helping hand. In moments of uncertainty, acts of generosity like those of King, Gab and Pilgreg serve as a reminder that hope, resilience, and unity can shine even in the most challenging circumstances.
