Filipino choreographer makes waves in Dubai’s entertainment scene

The narrative of a dedicated Filipino artist, who transitioned from the streets of Manila to the modern skyline of Dubai, captures the essence of determination and adaptability. Catherine Gallano, affectionately known as Cathy G, has crafted an inspiring career spanning over a decade in various roles.

As an Artist, Choreographer, Creative Director, and Entertainment Manager at Club 7 in Park Regis Kris Kin Hotel, her journey is a compelling example of ambition and perseverance in the global Filipino community.

Cathy’s decision to work abroad was driven by a desire to explore life beyond the Philippines.

“I made the decision to work abroad to gain experience of life outside the Philippines,” she shares with The Global Filipino Magazine.

This decision marked the beginning of an adventurous and challenging journey.

Her career trajectory is a blend of glamour and grit. Starting as a backup dancer on the MTB TV show “Magandang Tanghali Bayan”, her talent was soon recognized by prominent figures like Willie Revillame and Johnny Manahan. This recognition catapulted her to leading roles in shows like “Pilipinas Win Na Win” and “The Voice Philippines”. Her ascent is a story of perseverance and passion, turning opportunities into milestones.

A creative haven in Dubai

In 2013, Cathy began her current role in Dubai. Speaking about her work, she says, “The creative aspect of my profession, as well as the challenges I face and overcome, have been the highlights of my career.”

Her enthusiasm for her work is palpable. She relishes the opportunity to scout talents in the Philippines and bring them to Dubai.

“We can all work in harmony and showcase Filipino talent to the local community,” Cathy explains, highlighting her commitment to promoting Filipino culture globally.

Working in Dubai offers unique experiences compared to her time in the Philippines.

“I get to interact with people from all walks of life,” Cathy notes.

The diversity and dynamism of Dubai have been a source of both challenge and inspiration for her.

However, this journey wasn’t without its struggles. Cathy recalls the loneliness and homesickness she endured in her initial years in Dubai.

“It took a toll on me to be away from home and my family for so long,” she confesses.

But with time, she found a second family among her peers in Dubai, which eased her journey.

Her advice to fellow Filipinos abroad resonates with experience and empathy.

“Everything takes time, and God will make a way when the time is right,” she advises.

She emphasizes the importance of financial prudence and patience, especially in a place like Dubai, where the fast-paced lifestyle can be overwhelming.

As for the future, Cathy harbors dreams of entrepreneurship. While she keeps the specifics close to her chest, she promises, “When the time comes, the world will know.”

Her mantra, “As you sow, so shall you reap,” reflects her belief in the power of hard work and determination.
