Several Filipino celebrities, including Marian Rivera, Dingdong Dantes, Heart Evangelista, and Rocco Nacino, have actively participated in relief efforts for families affected by Typhoon Carina and the enhanced southwest monsoon (habagat).
Rivera and Dantes, along with their children Zia and Sixto, personally prepared over 700 relief packages, which they donated to the GMA Kapuso Foundation’s Operation Bayanihan. Rivera shared photos and videos of their efforts on Instagram, inviting followers to share their locations to further extend assistance.
Dantes, together with fellow Navy reservists Nacino and beauty queen Beatrice Gomez, led the distribution of relief goods at a school in Marikina. Evangelista, as president of the Senate Spouses Foundation, also spearheaded the packing and distribution of aid in the same area.
Celebrity couple Jennylyn Mercado and Dennis Trillo used Instagram to solicit donations for those affected by the typhoon, including pets. Mercado announced, “We are now opening our lines for cash donations. All collected funds will be used to help communities devastated by Super Typhoon Carina.”
Other celebrities, including Enzo Pineda, Ashley Ortega, Faith Da Silva, and “Unang Hirit” hosts Shaira Diaz and Suzi Entrata-Abrera, volunteered in packing and distributing relief goods.
Additionally, Gerald Anderson and actor-singer Ronnie Liang participated in rescue operations. Liang shared on Instagram, “Joining the rescue operations for the victims of the flood caused by Typhoon Carina at Barangay Roxas, Quezon City. Reporting for duty as a reservist of the Philippine Army together with other troops of the 1302 Ready Reserve Battalion, Reserve Command, Philippine Army.”
