Filipino architects shine as eight projects reach World Architecture Festival 2024 shortlist

Eight exceptional projects from the Philippines have been shortlisted in different categories at the prestigious World Architecture Festival 2024 (WAF), which will take place in Singapore from November 6 to 8. The festival is renowned for showcasing global architectural excellence.

According to an article from Property Report, seven Filipino firms will make their WAF debut this year, while one firm, Archion Architects, is returning for a second time. These firms will present their innovative designs to an international panel of judges, representing the country on the global stage.

Archion Architects, based in Metro Manila, has been shortlisted in the Future Projects: Health category for their Felicidad Sy Multi-Specialty Building in Ermita, Manila. Bacungan Architects, another Metro Manila-based firm, will compete in the Future Projects: Competition category with The Waste-Wise House in North Caloocan. Pluszerotwo Architecture, also from Metro Manila, will showcase their project Balai Ani: House of Harvest in Angono, Rizal, competing in the Future Projects: Residential category.

From Cebu, LLG Architects Design Studio is in the running for the Future Projects: Residential category with The Rise at Monterazzas. Obra Majoralia Architecture, also from Cebu, will compete in the Future Projects: Culture category with their Loboc Performing Arts Center, which has already won the GROHE Young Visionaries Challenge. San Studio rounds off Cebu’s contributions with Interweaving Dualities: Reimagining City Hall Architecture, shortlisted in the Future Projects: Civic category.

LT Pagaduan Design Studio from Davao is a finalist in the Future Projects: Infrastructure category for the New Public Market and Terminal Complex in Agusan del Sur. Meanwhile, Swito Designs will compete in the Future Projects: Civic category with their Peace Building in Maguindanao Del Norte.

The Filipino finalists participated in preparatory events organized by WAF’s founding partner, GROHE, in partnership with Kanto, WAF Philippines’ official media partner. GROHE Philippines Country Leader, Hermie Limbo, expressed pride in supporting Filipino designers as they continue to impress the global community with their creativity and innovation.

The World Architecture Festival, launched in 2008, is the largest annual international event for architecture, featuring panel discussions and presentations by leading architects and industry experts worldwide.
