Filipino American figure skater Lorenzo Elano secured the Junior Men’s gold medal at the US National Championships and is now preparing for the 2025 World Junior Championships next month.
The 17-year-old, who previously triumphed at the Midwestern Sectional Championship, claimed the national title with a total score of 202.65. His outstanding performance earned him a spot as an alternate for the World Junior Championships, scheduled for March 25–30 in Boston, Massachusetts.
Reflecting on his victory, Elano described it as an “unexpected moment” and expressed gratitude to his coaches, family, and friends for their unwavering support.
However, the young skater also mourned the loss of fellow athletes and coaches who were among the victims of a tragic plane and helicopter collision on Jan. 29. The victims had been returning from the National Development Camp held alongside the US Figure Skating Championships in Wichita, Kansas.
Elano has since launched a GoFundMe campaign to support his skating journey, encouraging donations and shares to help him continue competing at the highest level. Fans can also follow his progress on Instagram at @renzoskates.
