Filipina worker goes missing in Riyadh days before scheduled flight home

A Filipina overseas worker has been reported missing in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, just days before her scheduled flight back to the Philippines.

The woman, identified as Crisah Mhea Sungahid from Butuan City, was last seen on Thursday, July 3, 2025, after taking her day off. According to a now-viral post by the Facebook page 6 Magic Radio, she has yet to return and has been unreachable since then. Her flight back to the Philippines was booked for July 10.

The situation has stirred concern across the Filipino community in Saudi Arabia, with netizens expressing frustration, worry, and compassion in the comment sections. Several people called out the quick judgment thrown at Pinays working abroad, especially those who take their day off, while others urged fellow OFWs to be extra cautious.

“Missing po daw si kabayan last Thursday pa… tatlo po sila kasi namili at pauwi na sana ng Pilipinas,” one commenter wrote, sharing that Sungahid was reportedly last seen with friends before parting ways. While two of her companions returned to their accommodation, she allegedly went out again to meet someone and never came back. “Sana naman po OK siya… mahirap dito baka mamaya hindi natin alam kung ginahasa siya o pinatay o ginawang sex slave,” the same commenter added, pleading for prayers and safety.

Other Filipinos chimed in with mixed sentiments—some blaming the victim’s choices, while others stressed the need for empathy and understanding. “Huwag agad-agad magtiwala,” another warned, while others criticized those placing blame on the missing woman instead of focusing on efforts to locate her.

In a shared screenshot from the Migrant Workers Office in Riyadh, the community’s efforts to search for Sungahid have been ongoing for two days without pause. “2-day effort pa morningan, di po tumigil mga Kasama na siya ay mahanap, maligtas. Ingat po Kabayan,” the post read.

As of now, there have been no official updates on her whereabouts.
