Filipina tourist hit by train in Taiwan, requires surgery

A Filipina tourist is set to undergo surgery after being struck by a train in Taiwan, the Manila Economic and Cultural Office (MECO) confirmed on Tuesday.

MECO chairperson Cheloy Garafil reported that the incident occurred at Shifen Sky Lantern Old Street, a well-known tourist spot featuring local cuisine, souvenir shops, and a rail line that attracts visitors. The woman, who initially traveled alone, had joined a tour during this part of her trip.

Garafil stated that the injured tourist is stable and conscious, and her family has been notified.

The travel agency handling her trip is coordinating with MECO and will cover her medical expenses through her insurance.
