14-year-old Elisia Parmisano is poised to debut as part of a K-pop girl group. Parmisano, who has been dazzling audiences on the South Korean reality competition ‘Universe Ticket,’ has earned the top spot in the show by reaching the P level, the highest ranking achievable.
The up-and-coming girl group, set to consist of eight members, will be launched under the banner of entertainment company F&F. Among those still vying for a place in this promising ensemble are fellow Filipina Gehlee Dangca and Filipino-Korean contestant Jin Hyeon-ju.
‘Universe Ticket’ has gained significant attention, not least for its star-studded panel of judges, including singer and actress Kim Se-jeong, acclaimed singer Younha, and renowned record producer Adora.
Parmisano’s success has not gone unnoticed in her home country. On Instagram, she has been showered with congratulatory messages from Philippine celebrities such as Regine Velasquez-Alcasid and Marian Rivera, the Kapuso Primetime Queen.
This milestone for Parmisano comes on the heels of another significant achievement in the K-pop industry by a Filipina. In November 2023, Sophia Laforteza became the first Filipino artist to join the legendary South Korean agency HYBE. Laforteza is a member of the girl group KATSEYE, which is also anticipated to make its debut this year.
