In a tribute to healthcare professionals around the globe, Janina Galangga, a Filipina nurse based in the US, has been honored with the distinguished Florence Nightingale Award. This award recognizes nurses who have showcased an extraordinary blend of commitment, skill, and compassion in their line of duty.
Galangga is among 12 awardees from the titan division across the United States. Her exceptional service and dedication, especially in challenging times for healthcare professionals, set her apart.
Expressing her gratitude on social media, Galangga shared, “I am so honored and excited to receive this award. Bosses from [the] Cardinal Division visited our clinic unexpectedly and presented this recognition to me.”
Having moved to the US just two years prior, Galangga quickly made her mark at the kidney care center in Hampton, Virginia, being promoted to the role of clinical manager within a mere five months. She was caught by surprise when she found out about the award, as her nomination had been a secret kept by her boss and husband for two weeks.
Galangga’s nursing journey has been global. Before her role in the US, she served at the Jose R. Reyes Memorial Medical Center in Manila and a military hospital in Saudi Arabia.
