Filipina nurse dies in Abu Dhabi car accident

A Filipina nurse who recently moved to Abu Dhabi tragically died in a car accident on Sunday, according to her employer at Al Raiaa Home Health Care. The nurse, who had only arrived in the UAE in August, was in her early 30s and had just completed her shift on Saturday, Khaleej Times reported. However, she failed to report for duty the next day, prompting her employer to check on her whereabouts.

“She was supposed to be on duty on Sunday, but when we tried calling her, she wasn’t picking up,” a company HR officer said. After efforts to contact her yielded no results, the company was informed on Monday that she had passed away in a car accident.

The Philippine Embassy confirmed her death and stated that the Migrant Workers Office (MWO) in Abu Dhabi is assisting with the case and coordinating with the nurse’s family.

Condolences have poured in on social media, especially from fellow Filipino nurses in the UAE. “Her saddened and heartbreaking death has left us devastated,” wrote Esmer Pariñas on a community group. Another message from her cousin, Sherman Gamboa, expressed disbelief and sorrow: “I am still in shock… I just wanted to let you know, that I love you.”

Ronald Gamiao, president of the Filipino Nurses Association in Emirates, extended his condolences: “We are saddened by the loss of our fellow nurse in Abu Dhabi. Our deepest condolences to her family.”
