GEMS Global Institute, led by Filipina educator and entrepreneur Gimmarie “Gem” Bassig Reyes, has secured a major international milestone after being formally accredited by the National Open College Network United Kingdom (NOCN UK) — the first Filipino-owned training center in Bahrain to receive the honor.
The recognition underscores years of work Ms. Reyes has dedicated to expanding educational access, strengthening professional training, and uplifting communities through skill development. Her leadership has earned her multiple international awards in business education, leadership, and women empowerment, reflecting a career shaped by consistency, innovation, and service.
At the accreditation ceremony, NOCN UK was represented by Regional Manager Ebrahim Radhi and Gulf Region Business Development Manager Kathrina Canosa. Accepting the NOCN Shield on behalf of GEMS were Ms. Reyes and Vice President and Executive Director Benson A. Castillejos. The milestone marks a significant moment for Bahrain’s Filipino community, showcasing the impact of Filipino-led institutions in the global education landscape.
Under Ms. Reyes’ guidance, GEMS Global Institute has rapidly grown into a recognized regional training hub, delivering programs aligned with international standards. Its courses span Nursing Assistant, Caregiving, Culinary Arts, Barista Training, Massage Therapy, Business Management, Financial Accounting, and other in-demand fields designed to boost employability at home and abroad.
Her mission has remained centered on providing accessible, high-quality education that opens doors to better careers. Through expanded partnerships with hospitals, hotels, and accreditation bodies worldwide, GEMS continues to widen opportunities for students seeking global qualifications.
