A Filipina expatriate has been confirmed dead, while her husband fights for his life in intensive care following a devastating fire in Sharjah’s Al Nadha area on Thursday night, as disclosed by the Philippine Consulate-General (PCG) in Dubai to Khaleej Times on Saturday.
Ten other Filipinos residing in the same building are currently hospitalized, the mission reported.
In response, the PCG stated, “The consulate is coordinating with local authorities and community leaders to ensure all affected Filipinos receive the support they need during this difficult time.”
Expressing condolences, they added, “We extend our heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased and pray for the swift recovery of her husband, as well as the other 10 injured Filipinos who are receiving the necessary medical attention.”
According to the Sharjah Police, the fire claimed five lives and left 44 injured. The tragic deaths were attributed to suffocation. Among the injured, 17 remain hospitalized while 27 were discharged after receiving treatment.
