Filipina drag artist Marina Summers secured third place in the thrilling second season of “RuPaul’s Drag Race: UK vs. the World.” The competition reached its climax with a fierce lip sync showdown between Marina and Australia’s Hannah Conda to the electrifying beats of “I’m Outta Love” by Anastasia. Ultimately, RuPaul crowned Hannah Conda the winner of the challenge.
In a gracious farewell, Marina expressed her gratitude, saying, “Ru, thank you so much for inviting this little Filipina on your big show. I am forever grateful and my lines are open for another call.” Reflecting on her journey, she added, “But honestly, I know I made every Filipino across the globe proud and thank you for giving me this opportunity. I’ll always and forever be your Filipino winner.”
Taking to Twitter, Marina shared her appreciation for the support, saying, “Maraming salamat, world. We fought hard on this one.”
The coveted title of the Queen of the Mothertucking world was clinched by UK’s own Tia Kofi.
Throughout the competition, Marina captivated audiences with her vibrant portrayal of Filipino culture. As the only Asian contestant, she brought a unique perspective and proudly showcased her heritage. Marina emerged as a frontrunner early on, securing three Ru Badges in the first six episodes.
Her memorable entrance, adorned in a stunning Filipiniana ensemble, set the stage for her remarkable journey. Marina’s ingenuity even sparked laughter among netizens when she cleverly used Durabox as her luggage.
Among her standout moments was her rendition of “AMAFILIPINA,” a delightful homage to Maymay Entrata’s “Amakabogera.”
Prior to her appearance on “RuPaul’s Drag Race: UK vs. the World,” Marina showcased her talent in the inaugural season of “Drag Race Philippines,” where she earned the title of runner-up.
