Anya Alindada shines as the first Filipina ballerina to receive a Diploma in Classical Ballet and Dance Performance from the prestigious English National Ballet School (ENBS) in London.
“I’ve never been to a regular school until I studied here in London. It’s an amazing opportunity,” said Alindada in an ABS-CBN News report, expressing her gratitude for the chance to pursue her passion on such a grand stage.
Starting her journey at the tender age of four, Alindada delved into ballet, and by the age of seven, she had enrolled in ballet school and commenced her rigorous training.
By the age of nineteen, she left her mark by graduating from ENBS in 2023, also receiving a Diploma in Professional Dance from Trinity College London.
Her pursuit of excellence led her to various competitions, including the Japan Grand Prix, and she even studied in Australia, but her ultimate goal was to join ENBS.
“After I came back from Japan for the Grand Prix, I realized I wanted to do more than what the training in the Philippines could offer,” she explained, highlighting her determination to seek broader horizons.
Despite an initial rejection, Alindada persevered until she secured a scholarship and eventually leaped into the three-year program at the ballet school.
Offering advice to aspiring dancers, she emphasized the resilience required in the face of rejection, stating, “The ballet industry is very tough. You will receive a lot of rejection before you get a yes. Just go for it.”
Beyond her dream of joining the English National Ballet, a prestigious ballet company in the UK, Alindada also aspires to grace the stages of acclaimed ballet shows in the UK.
Additionally, she dreams of establishing a ballet school in the Philippines, aiming to open doors for young talents aspiring to become prima ballerinas.
