Filipina CPA dedicates success to OFW uncle who supported her education

A heartwarming video of a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) celebrating her milestone with her Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) uncle in Canada has touched the hearts of many online.

Justine Daria, who recently passed the CPA licensure exam, shared an emotional video call with her uncle, Sandy Lorilla, on Wednesday. Lorilla, despite not being a college graduate, took on the responsibility of supporting Daria’s education and her sibling’s schooling after the loss of their father.

In the video, Daria broke down in tears, expressing her gratitude to her “Tito Sandy,” whom she described as a second father. “My uncle stepped in to help my mother provide for us after my dad passed away when I was in Grade 6,” she said in a The Philippine STAR report. Her brother has also achieved professional success as a licensed architect.

“Tito Sandy changed not just my life but also the lives of many others. He’s truly selfless and deserves all the recognition,” Daria added.
