Filipina architect wins big in Dubai for championing women in the workplace

Filipina architect and design leader Christine Espinosahas been named Women’s Executive Empowerment Champion of the Year at the ED+I Summit and Awards 2025, a prestigious Dubai-based event celebrating equity, diversity, and inclusion in the construction and design industries across the Middle East.

Held under the banner of the Women in Construction Summit & Awards, and organized by Middle East Consultant, the event recognizes individuals and organizations that are shifting workplace culture and driving inclusive practices in the built environment sector. The award honors a woman executive who has successfully advanced gender inclusiveness in her organization’s day-to-day operations and culture.

Christine, currently the Associate Director at Godwin Austen Johnson (GAJ)—one of the UAE’s leading architectural firms—has been widely recognized for her commitment to creating a workplace where inclusion is embedded in both policy and practice.

Her leadership has consistently pushed boundaries, from mentoring women in real estate through Cityscape’s Women in Real Estate (WIRE) initiative to advising Heriot-Watt University’s Architecture Industry Advisory Board.

With over two decades of experience in the Middle East and Asia, Christine has led high-profile projects in hospitality, residential, heritage, and education sectors. Her vision extends beyond buildings.

Her work was previously recognized in Design Middle East’s “30 Most Influential Architects of 2024,” where she was the only Filipina on the list.
