A human fetus was discovered in the women’s restroom at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1 on the morning of Wednesday, August 6, 2024. The fetus, estimated to be one month old, was found by a cleaning staff member during routine garbage collection. It was covered in blood-soaked tissue paper inside a garbage can.
The Philippine National Police Airport Security Group reported the discovery, confirming the presence of the fetus through the airport medical team led by Dr. Donita Arnesto. Following the confirmation, the remains were transported to NAIA Police Station 1 for further action.
The Scene of the Crime Operatives from the Philippine National Police have initiated a forensic investigation at the site. In addition, NAIA Police Station 1, the Airport Police Department, and Sub Station 8 have launched a joint investigation to identify and locate the mother.
This incident echoes a similar case from December 2004, when a male fetus was also found in a garbage can at the same terminal.
