A tragic fire incident in Sharjah claimed the lives of a Pakistani national, Imran Khan, and his daughter on Thursday. The family, residing in the Muweileh area, faced this calamity in the early hours, leading to the death of the two due to suffocation, as confirmed by Faisal Tirmizi, Pakistan’s Ambassador to the UAE.
In the aftermath of the incident, Khan’s wife and two other children were rushed to the intensive care unit at Al Qassimi Hospital, Sharjah. Ambassador Tirmizi expressed the sorrow of the event, stating, “An unfortunate accident occurred in the house of a Pakistani based in Sharjah on the morning of January 25, 2024. Regrettably, the family’s head Imran Khan and his one daughter died in the incident while his wife and two other kids are in the ICU of Al Qassimi Hospital Sharjah.” This statement was relayed to the Khaleej Times.
The Pakistani community, a significant part of the UAE’s demographic and economic landscape, with 1.7 million nationals contributing to the local and their home country’s economy, is shaken by this incident. The Consulate General of Pakistan in Dubai is actively involved, liaising with Imran Khan’s employer and pledging comprehensive support to the bereaved family during this challenging period. Ambassador Tirmizi affirmed, “The Consulate is ensuring maximum support and required assistance to the victims’ family in this hour of great trial and grief.”
