On Wednesday, April 10, Facebook unveiled a series of upgrades to its Messenger platform, including the long-awaited ability to share high-definition (HD) photos within chats.
Users can now toggle on the HD option before sending an image from their camera roll, ensuring clearer and crisper photo quality. The feature also extends to sharing multiple photos in HD format, promising an enhanced visual experience for users.
In addition to HD photo sharing, Messenger introduces the Share Album feature, allowing users to conveniently organize their photos based on events or purposes. Creating a new album in group chats is made simple by selecting multiple photos and tapping “Create album,” or by long-pressing a photo and choosing the option. Users can further manage albums by adding, deleting, renaming, and downloading pictures and videos.
The update also includes the upcoming capability to add users to chats via QR Code scanning, providing a hassle-free alternative to typing out names or numbers. Users can generate their QR codes through the Settings tab, making account discovery more streamlined.
Furthermore, Messenger aims to streamline file sharing by allowing users to send files up to 100MB in supported formats like Word, PDF, and Excel, eliminating the need for cumbersome email attachments.
These enhancements follow Facebook’s recent rollout of an updated fullscreen, vertically oriented video player, offering a consistent design across various video formats, including Reels, long videos, and live streams. The new player allows for easy skipping or jumping back through a convenient slider interface.
