Ex-president Duterte ready for jail, reacts to Quezon City subpoena

Former President Rodrigo Duterte has expressed his readiness to face jail time following a subpoena issued against him by the Quezon City prosecutor’s office. The legal action stems from a complaint filed by ACT-Teacher’s Party-list representative France Castro.

During his appearance on SMNI, Duterte addressed the subpoena but did not clarify his intentions regarding the complaint. He expressed a sense of oppression by Castro, accusing her and other lawmakers of being communists intent on destroying the government. “Magpakulong na lang ako kasi gi-oppressed ako ni France. Kayong mga komunista, how I wish sana all!,” Duterte stated.

Duterte has been vocal in his belief that some lawmakers are members of the communist party, aiming to undermine the Philippine government. “They are the left who are members of the communist party of the Philippines. Then they joined the mainstream, mga rebelde yan eh gusto nilang sirain ang Pilipinas,” he added.

The complaint filed by Castro is linked to Duterte’s alleged threat to kill the lawmaker over her remarks concerning the confidential funds of his daughter, Vice President Sara Duterte.
