Euleen Castro defends viral Iloilo café review, says she was just being honest

Content creator Euleen Castro, widely known online as “Pambansang Yobab,” has finally broken her silence following heavy backlash over her viral food review of a café in Iloilo.

In a video uploaded to her YouTube channel, Castro stood firm on her opinion that the food and drinks served at the establishment did not meet her expectations. “Honestly, hindi po talaga ako nasarapan, and opinyon ko naman po ‘yon,” she said.

Castro explained that she and her companions had just come from a movie when they decided to visit the café. Wanting to explore the full experience, they ordered nearly everything on the menu. However, she clarified that her comments were not meant to discourage others from visiting.

“Hindi ko sinabing huwag puntahan, hindi ko sinabing magsara kayo,” she stressed.

Responding to criticism over her use of profanity during the video, Castro defended herself, saying her language was never directed at the food, staff, or the café itself. “Expression ko lang po talaga ‘yun,” she said, adding that she assumed her audience would understand her sense of humor.

While maintaining her stance, she admitted the situation made her realize the extent of her influence as a content creator. She acknowledged the need for greater care moving forward and issued an apology to those offended—especially the café’s staff and owner.

“This was a wake-up call,” she said, promising to be more mindful in her future reviews.
